Winged Humanoids: P1

EDIT 2015: HEY GUYS just wanted to make a statement that these are SUPER OLD and I've learned a lot since these went up so please forgive my former ignorance. ALSO these are mostly geared towards the anatomy I made up for my character but there are plenty of other viable theories out there. Other artists have left their insight in the comments, take a look because a lot of them explain stuff I missed and provide examples.

P.S. I HAVE now read Maximum Ride. I have a lot of issues with the story/world, but what little effort Jame Patterson put into suspending disbelief went towards flight physiology so I will give him credit there.
